We have choices to take in this world, and they are ours and ours alone to take. No matter what has been before (your past, your history, your plans) please for Mercy’s sake, look down at your feet and see what path you are on. If you are not in Jesus-the Way, the Truth, and the Life-the road that never ends, why?

On so many other paths we find ourselves alone, deserted, abandoned, abused, confused, dismayed, afraid, lost……..without hope, without Jesus.

Matthew 7:13  Enter ye in at the strait gate:   for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat;

I believe it is imperative that we comprehend the responsibility we have to ourselves to THINK, and to CHOOSE, and to stop wandering in the wildernesses of our confusions. There are two types of lost: not knowing where you are, and not knowing where you are going. Who do you ask directions from? Are you certain that they know the way? How do you know?

Corinthians 5:15  And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him wich died for them, and rose again.

We all change, we all grow: Some unto life, some unto death. It truly is our choice. We being free-minded agents are given lessons throughout our lives, which we fashion into the very nature of who we are, what we stand for, who we live for. We can choose to live for Life: Jesus: love: grace: the Light. Or we can choose to live for death: the spirit of flesh: hate: the darkness.  We can all, at any given time, choose to change our minds, change our attitudes, and change our directions. The important FIXED object in the equation is not where we are on the road; it is which road are we on?

If every worldly desire came true for you today, would that in itself justify all the many roads you have taken and all the ones you will take and yet even the one you are on?

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Here is a simple breakdown of the Way I believe it works: first, we realize that we are lost, that the road we are on is not the “right” road. Then we look around to see if we can find the right road. We try many many things…..and still there is the voice of Jesus, saying “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life:  no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” John 14:6

Do we really want to be reconciled to God? If you have ever been lost you know how it feels to desperately wish to be found. Or find your way out….back….and when you hear Him calling you, and you know –somehow- that He is the Light in the darkness you find yourself in, on that wrong road, side road, back road, long road….you find in that moment your faith! And that faith leads you to Jesus.

Once you have heard Him, and felt His presence, you just know that He is the Truth. And you want Him. And then you realize your condition, which is lost, wayward, separated by your sin.  So you answer Him, though your voice may be a weak whisper barely heard over the noise of the world, and you say to Him, “yes, I am lost. I hear your voice and I want to be with you, wherever you are, because I know you love me….and I somehow know that I am not where I belong right now.” And He is there. He says to you to follow Him now, to stay close, to keep your eyes on Him, your heart close to His. Right now you are not afraid. His perfect love has cast away all your fears. Today is the day of salvation…..

Natalie Imbruglia, in Madrid

This song comes really close to how I felt ‘that day’ when I finally got down on my bruised and dirty knees and cried out for God, for Jesus.  I just wanted to be close to Him, aware of Him, and there are not enough right words to describe His answer!

When I was around 11 or 12 years old I walked the aisle at First Baptist, in my home town.  And I was baptized.  And I believe that this is where my intellectual relationship with Him began….

Y E A R S later, after much trial and error, I found myself sitting in a independent-spirit-filled-fundemental-baptist-church-and after several alter calls I ran to my preachers and asked them WHY? do I feel called to be saved AGAIN??  So I prayed.  And they advised me to stop listening with my head and listen with my heart.  So I did.  The next alter call, during which time a zillion butterflies were beating thru my chest….I FLEW to the alter and thanked God for His amazing grace and for His patience.  I was ‘double dunked’ that same day and soon thereafter left that church…..another writing….another day.
